The carbon fiber U-RAC XL Suppressor Shield is designed to provide unparalleled performance and protection for your suppressor and you, the operator. The U-RAC XL is one of the lightest and most robust suppressor cover solutions on the market. Designed for large diameter suppressors, the U-RAC XL can accommodate suppressors up to 1.9″ wide.

 Modularity is key when it comes to the weapon platforms used on duty and to protect what matters most. For this reason, the U-RAC was designed for vast compatibility. Using a Picatinny rail grabber, the U-RAC will integrate with all standard height AR-15 rails. Furthermore the U-RAC rail grabber is machined to accept the Unity Tactical FUSION™ folding front sight so as to not waste any rail space. 

Before the U-RAC, military and law enforcement personnel faced extreme heat and potential burns from hot suppressors. Fabric wraps, while offering some protection, trap heat inside of your suppressor. This can lead to poor performance and a shorter lifespan for your can. MODTAC solved this problem by introducing a rigid, free-floating design that insulates the suppressor with an air gap, promoting airflow for faster cool-down times.

The U-RAC also features an industry-first quick-disconnect system that securely holds the shield in place and remains solid even under fully automatic fire. Utilizing a lightweight aluminum coupler and a high temp carbon fiber outer hull, the U-RAC is not just a first line of defense but a natural extension of your firearm, ensuring quick, precise operational efficiency in the harshest of conditions.

Choosing the correct length

Measurement guide for length of Suppressor Shields with Rail Attach Couplers.

1. Ensure that the first picatinny slot is no further than 0.85″ from the end of the handguard

2. Measure from end of the forearm to the end of the suppressor.

3. Select the closest part number to this length.

Example Measurement A = 5.9″
Choose part 18B-004-6 (6″ of coverage)

The Suppressor Shield with Universal Rail Attached Coupler, was designed to be compatible with all AR-style platforms that have a top Picatinny rail on the end of the free floating handguard. The Height over bore that we use, are industry standards, to ensure proper fitment. Which rails will the U-RAC fit?

The U-RAC was designed to be compatible with all AR-style platforms that have a top Picatinny rail on the end of the free floating handguard. The Height over bore that we use, are industry standards, to ensure proper fitment. AR-15: 1.215”  The Pic-Rail Grabber is machined to be compatible with as many commercial and military rails as possible. 

 

Approximately 1.35” of rail space is needed to mount a U-RAC, meaning all accessories, including a front sight must be removed.  However, all U-RACs are compatible with Unity FUSION™ BUIS, meaning you can still retain a front sight!

Can I mount it on a bottom or side rail?

We do not recommend this.

What is a suppressor shield?

The materials and design of the MODTAC Suppressor Shields provide a solidly mounted, rigid shield that eliminates mirage, reduces the chance of incidental contact burns on personnel and equipment, as well as allows the suppressor to cool naturally, prolonging the life of your suppressor and your gear.

what makes modtac shields unique?

All MODTAC Suppressor Shields are designed to create an air-gap around the suppressor, allowing air to naturally flow through and cool the suppressor.

Are suppressor shields different than suppressor wraps?

Yes, Suppressor Shields are a rail mounted, rigid, and free floating design which does not retain heat inside of the suppressor, unlike suppressor wraps, resulting in about half the cool down time, as well as a lower peak temperature.

Temperature testing was conducted independently by SFARTAEC Instructors at Ft. Bragg, NC.
Equipment: US Army M4 / URGI (11.5″) 5.56mm NATO, Geissele Rail, Surefire SOCOM Suppressor, MODTAC M-RAC Suppressor Shield 2.0

Course of Fire was 10 rounds per minute for 9 minutes (3 mags) totaling 90 rounds, followed by monitoring of temperatures during cool down cycle.
